The snowmobiling in Vilas County is the best around. A massive trail system gives you access to the sights, sounds, and experiences of 240,000 acres of public land. This includes 700 miles of snowmobile trails and 60 extensive multi-use trails.
To enjoy all that great snowmobiling, you won’t need to hook up a trailer and haul vehicles up to us. We offer simple, hassle-free rental of snowmobiles that are recent models (2019-2021) that are lovingly cared for. You can access major trails right from our lodge grounds.
Whether you’re looking for a day trip or a weekend getaway, Phelps is a great option for snowmobiling. And if you’re looking for a place to stay, we have a cabin close to the trails that would be perfect for you. So come on up and enjoy the winter wonderland that is Phelps, Wisconsin.
Snowmobile rental
Vilas County is the home of The Snowmobile Capital of the World (Eagle River), and we have hundreds of miles of carefully groomed trails for you to explore. Plus, these trails connect every one of our county’s communities, letting you explore our towns, restaurants, and shops at the same time you’re snowmobiling through unspoiled wilderness.

Rentals Available

- A maximum of two riders to a snowmobile, no exceptions.
- Guests who use the snowmobiles must be at least 21 years old, wear a helmet, and obey all state regulations.
- A dedicated snowmobiling trail app (the Map It Vilas County Trails app) is available to help you navigate local trails and roads. It’s GPS based, so you won’t need a cell signal.
Boat rental
Don’t worry about hauling a boat, we have fully equipped boats ready for you to use. Choose from a pontoon boat, Alumacraft Magnum 175 CS or Smoker Craft 170, and get out on the water whenever the fish are biting!
Rental Rates (subject to vary)
- Rental rate is $200 per day.
- The boat may be used between 4:00 am and sunset.
- Guests who use the boat must wear a life jacket and obey all state boating regulations.
UTV rental
Grab one of our 2021 Polaris Ranger 570 4 seater UTV’s and roar over road and trail! They have front and rear glass, rear view mirror and side mirrors.
Rental Rates (subject to vary)
- Rental rate is $225 per day.
- UTV’s may be used between 7:30am and sunset.
- Guests who use the ATV/UTV’s must be at least 21 years old, wear a helmet, and obey all state ATV/UTV regulations.
- A dedicated trail app (the Map It Vilas County Trails app) is available to help you navigate local trails and roads. It’s GPS based, so you won’t need a cell signal.
